On 3rd January 2005, Erasure released a single called Breathe, and as always they had several tracks on it, one being a Digimo Pro software idea, which basically meant you could rearrange the track using the software on the single. Being an Erasure fan I thought it was great as they asked you to send in your efforts, which I did, and it still remains on their website under treasure fan mixes breathe, moderator mix and inhale mix. I thought the whole idea was brilliant, and thanks to a good friend Darren I then got into the world of computer software, starting with sample CD's loaded with drum base percussion sounds and vocals, they were not always good vocals but were ok to play around with, and the amount of software out there is huge, and you could spend lots and lots of money however I didn’t at first and managed to get by. I think liking music as much as I do and growing up in the 80’s I found the sound I wanted to produce quite easily. My influences are huge ranging from Shop Boys to Erasure, Howard Jones DM to Tall Paul as well as Human League, Kaiser Chiefs and Kylie.
I have the greatest respect for them all, working as hard as they do. I produced my first album I called “Intensive” which to be fair only a few people have heard, because I was still learning all about the software, and how to produce a track, using samples and my ideas and how to put them all together. My favorite track on the album has got to be “Electric”, it has a nice drum and base with a good strong deep riff going through it, funky almost 80’s style.
I had always wanted to be able to play the piano, so I began lessons, which I enjoyed and stuck to until the class I was in was stopped, thanks to funding being withdrawn from the University, although I was no longer having lessons, I still practiced, and to this day still continue to practice, and have since came by a midi keyboard and wow they are so cool, but again still need to practice, but I try and try but they are good fun. The tracks featured on the website, from my forthcoming album “Two Years and More” are my latest and best efforts so far and I am pleased with. I am a very self critical and think you have to be, but you as the artist must be happy with your work, and do the type of music you want to first, and then hope people like it. I have my work played in some pubs and clubs in the town, which sounded different through their sound system, nice and loud but sounded great. Anyway enough about me enjoy the sounds, and I’ll continue to work hard on future projects. LF
